A week in the Adirondacks.

Poor kids.  In order to not drive all. day. long, we decided to get on the road at 4am to so we could make to the Whiteface KOA campground in Wilmington, NY and set up our site in daylight.  Poor kids were totally discombobulated, but total troopers.  Watched a movie till they fell back asleep.

After about 9 hours, we finally made it.  We set up the campsite and got to doing what we do.  Nothing.  It rocks.
 Little buddies on the truck

We hit the Keene Valley Fire Department for their family day and had dinner at my dear friend Amy’s parents house. Amy and I have been friends since we were about 7.

We weren’t sure it was a smart decision…but we thought we’d try hiking a mountain (albeit a small one) with the boys. I wouldn’t say they LOOOOOVED it…these smiles were in the very beginning….and it took half the day.

We made it to the top.  Callum was happy about it, but Quinn was beside himself…just bursting with pride.  It was SO AWESOME!  I grew up hiking the little mountains in the Adirondacks and to see my kiddos doing it too was so cool.

The littlest hiker ended up being carried, sleeping, by his strong daddy about 2/3 of the way back down.
Had dinner at our favorite pizza place in Lake Placid.

Time to take the gondolas up Whiteface!

Got to catch up with my very first friend ever…really.  Been friends since he was about 18 months old and I was 2.  The boys were totally smitten with Mr. Mike…AND his parents’ taxidermy shop and store!

I always go to the cemetery between Keene and Keene Valley…I have a bunch of relatives from LONG ago buried there.  Plus there are great views.

On to a train ride from Lake Placid to Saranac Lake.

Then it rained…and rained and rained. Luckily our version of camping includes a 27″ flat screen and movies!

The end of our week in the ADKs came too fast…as always.  We’ll be back…
