I was a dishwasher at The Barkeater Inn in Keene, NY. It was the summer of 1989. I was 14. My best friend was a chambermaid (that’s what they called it). They had a dishwasher…a REAL one, under the counter…and I’d never used one. My training session included a couple minute review, “soap goes in here, close it and press this button.” Well, I put in regular dishwashing liquid, filled it right on up, and flooded the floor with a foot of bubbles during the breakfast rush. The kind innkeeper, who knew my grandmother, didn’t fire me.
That was my first job. And I’ve worked ever since. Always.
That all changes on 9/1/16. I quit my job to home…er…ROADschool our boys while we’re traveling the country. We’re waiting for the house to sell for the road part, but we’re starting homeschool on 9/6!
I never thought I’d be this excited to homeschool or that I’d even have a desire to do it, but I am. I’m psyched! And terrified. But mostly psyched!!
Let’s do this!
